[edit] Can I use WIM to talk to people on AOL, Yahoo and MSN?

No. However great an idea that is, Blizzard does not give developers the tools to create such an interface. Aside from that, doing so in any other way would violate the game's End User License Agreement.

[edit] I would like to help with translations. How can I do so?

Translators' help is greatly appreciated. For more information on how you can help, visit WIM:Translations.

[edit] I thought you said WIM had tabs?! Where are they?

By default, WIM is running in Multiple Window Mode. To change to tab mode, go to the WIM Options (/wim) and click to the Windows tab. Next, select Tabbed Window Mode from the drop down. Screenshots:Options/Windows

[edit] Is there a way to export my history?

You can export your history directly from the WIM History Viewer by changing the view mode to either raw text or HTML. From the window you can then copy and paste the selected conversation and paste it into the document you are working on (Examples: email, webpage, forums, notepad, etc).

[edit] How do I write my own filters?

Filters are written using Lua's pattern matching. Unlike most other programming languages, Lua does not have regular expressions. Instead, it has its own method of string matching which it calls patterns. For a great read on writing lua patterns, I suggest checking out WoWWiki's How To: Use Pattern Matching. Of course for a more technical and in-depth instruction, check out lLua's manual by clicking here.

[edit] Why is WIM is spamming everyone I whisper with WIM_W2WPING messages?

This is generally caused by playing on an unofficial private WoW Server. In order to prevent this, go to the WIM options (/wim), click on the Plugins tab. Select the WIM-2-WIM plugin, and disable it.

[edit] How do I install skins?

The collection of released skins can be viewed and downloaded from here. Once you have downloaded your skin, you should unzip it using your preferred Zip tool, and move the resulting folder into your World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns directory. You should not attempt to install skins inside the WIM directory. for more info please see admissions essay
