[Guest] [joshmiller83]: Can we get an Astrolabe fix please? Or has WIM stopped being developed?
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: You can disable wim2wim for now or visit the forum thread where you originally posted the issue
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Yay for spam!
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: ....
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: I love that I get emailed when someone reports spam on the boards, but I can't do anything about it.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.
[Guest] [Theillur]: http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index.php/topic,1796.0.html
[Guest] [Nev]: I'm here
[Guest] [Nev]: I don't think anyone else is though
[Guest] [tomasio]: great site [url=http://freeonlinemusicvideos.net].[/url] [url=http://freepeopleclothing.org].[/url]
[Guest] [Theillur]: Nev it is not working for Zeke as well.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: im here
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: ...

[DevTeam] [lothaer]: Zeke, Maziel, Pazza, Nachonut, sylvanaar, Kaidenn, Astaldo where are you?
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: It would be a real shame if WIM was left to die.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: i think these forums are dead, Sylvanaar dosnt post on them as he only bug fixes when possible. WIMs future isnt very bright
[Guest] [justgiz]: Yea, its rather sad.
[Guest] [silvercola]: I wish it had skype

Firstly, again, I apologize for any frustration yesterday's joke caused anyone. That wasn't my intention.

Moving on and back to business, here is the next WIM update. As you can see from the change log all joke related material has been removed from WiM. Also, as you can see this is mainly a bug fix release for the problems reported this past week. You wont be seeing any new features appearing in WIM 3.0 as I am preparing for a 3.1 release with the long awaited chat support. The concept is easy but the application isn't. I am trying to cover as much ground as I can while getting feedback from our testers and by using it myself, when I'm actually on. What's so difficult about chat? It's not difficult. Organizing the options for it is what is time consuming. Trying to make an intuitive set of options which appeal as as large of an audience as possible without making it convoluted. That there is the challenges I am confronting. Anyway, it is late and it's been a long day. Below is the change log for 3.0.10.

  •     *Fixed some resizing issues.
  •     Fixed bug when seperating tabs.
  •     Fixed bug with W2W tooltip - version information.
  •     When sending messages, priorities are now set to ALERT in ChatThrottleLib.
  •     Fixed db indexing errors occurring on load.
  •     Revised the UI for Window Behaviors.
  •     Updated isPrivateServer check to account for battle.net accounts.
  •     Removed April Fools Joke.

Sincerely,

Pazza

Thanks for the apology. It totally sucked. I'm not a qqer about wow in general, but that was so below the belt. I too spent a ton of time trying to remove a non-existant virus and I was so worried I was considering rebuilding my entire PC from scratch. I have no sense of humor? Maybe. Bottom line is that is ruined my evening. I didnt think addon writes had that much power.

But there are a gazillion addons out there... what if each one of them thought they'd do something "cool" for april 1st?  Ooo cool. So so cool. Darth vadar.... so so funny.

Sure put it behind you. Apologise and move on. Sorry you had to deal with all the complaints... Yes, wim is free. We dont owe you a damn thing. You were just have some fun.

I still feel like I was raped in the ass.

I didnt think addon writes had that much power.

Basically the addon was accessing a sound file, that any and all addons can do.

Lets take something that is widely used, Deadly Boss Mods. In that during the Sartharion fight, when a flame wall comes you hear the sound file "Run Away Little Girl" from the Big Bad Wolf fight in Karazhan. That could easily be changed to access a sound file of Darth Vader saying "Where is the rebel base?"

Thank you for both the apology and the fix.  I just wish you had made it do the sound when I was using your add-on directly not when I was attempting to log a new toon. I do believe had that been the case you would have had a lot less QQing on the site about about the joke and more nice joke you got me.

the sound file only played when you were on the loading screen AND had the mod enabled on that toon.

Call me a humorless bastard if you like, but what would you do if you thought your system had been compromised by some hacker who was about the run off with your maxed out raiding toons & 70,000g? Rebuild your system & change your password, right?

The wim addon writer did a very ugly thing by creating an april fools joke that mimics some of the nastier viruses out there (bizarre behaviour that clearly the kid virus writer thinks is "cool", followed by damage/theft to your system).

Enough is enough. It's in the past and obviously I won't do something that might cause mass panic in the future. I have been doing some of my own research however and what amazes me is that most people who hated the joke were Americans. I myself being one. Its amazing what our country/media/government has done to control us with fear. Seriously speaking. I barely got ANY complaints from the EU. This country is really over paranoid and scared. It's sad.

I consider the topic closed and will no longer write about April 1, 2009. The day a modem scared the human race. What do people do when someone sends them a fax and they hear the sound? pff.. sorry no more antagonizing.

Sure man, it wasnt your fault. Its "americas" fault. But of course, as all europeans know, in america, its  never anyone's fault is it? Its always someone elses fault. Just get a lawyer to prove it for you. How long do you think a culture where the individuals are never responsible for their actions can survive?

Yes, americans are more paranoid. And more immature. And a lot less educated than europeans. And a lot more unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions.

Enough is enough is fine for you dude, because you weren't affected. You can "enough-is-enough" us all you like, but I will remain pissed off for a long time, and I'll be using another addon from now on, since you proved yourself to be untrustworthy.

I haven't avoid blame for anything. I just made an opinion. If I didn't accept responsibility for my actions, I wouldn't have apologized.

I think judging on this country's current status, this is obvious.

You are free to do what you like.

That's the good thing about the wow addon community. If you don't like one addon, there's another on you can surely use.  As many of us have said before, your choice in addons is entirely up to you.  What I get tired of (and in no way is this directed in your general direction) are people who come on and say, good luck getting donations (when there are none in the first place), i refuse to use wim, and i will get another addon instead.

To be honest, go for it guys, enjoy the freedom of what we call... freedom of choice?  Whatever you want, it's free, you're free. Nothing happened to your computer, and nobody got hurt.  You're just part of that small community of people who DON'T LIKE TO GET FOOLED.

I'd like to quote a good friend of mine when I used to do card tricks.

"Hey, wanna see a trick?"

and he would reply: "Why would I want to be tricked?"

Enjoy WIM for what it is and get over yourselves people. Use it, don't use it.. it's a great addon that does what many of us want, and that's it.

Exactly what nachonut said.

What exactly are you trusting Pazza with anyway? It has nothing at all to do with trust. Pazza provides a piece of software, and you use it. There is no 'trust' involved anywhere.

Perhaps the software didn't live up to your expectation, then again do you expect places like news sites and google not to post bullshit stories? Yes. Do they do it on April 1st? Yes.

This is the only addon I know that did this, and I thought it was great. Next year though, I'm wondering how many other addons will try doing something like this.

Last year there was a great addon that promised it had found a way to make your roll higher numbers by timing you roll request with the server or some shit like that. In reallity, when you typed /roll it played a full screen Rick'Roll. It was pure win.
