[DevTeam] [Zeke]: I love that I get emailed when someone reports spam on the boards, but I can't do anything about it.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.
[Guest] [Theillur]: http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index.php/topic,1796.0.html
[Guest] [Nev]: I'm here
[Guest] [Nev]: I don't think anyone else is though
[Guest] [tomasio]: great site [url=http://freeonlinemusicvideos.net].[/url] [url=http://freepeopleclothing.org].[/url]
[Guest] [Theillur]: Nev it is not working for Zeke as well.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: im here
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: ...
lothaer yawns sleepily.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: sooooooooooooooooo
[Guest] [j3ff]: Hello. It is very quiet. I would love a response to my thread directly below your "Been very quiet" thread!
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: Check out my new post in the Skins forum
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: Posted a new download in the skins forum check it out
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: Zeke, Maziel, Pazza, Nachonut, sylvanaar, Kaidenn, Astaldo where are you?
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: It would be a real shame if WIM was left to die.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: i think these forums are dead, Sylvanaar dosnt post on them as he only bug fixes when possible. WIMs future isnt very bright
[Guest] [justgiz]: Yea, its rather sad.
[Guest] [silvercola]: I wish it had skype
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: noy possible for a addon to do.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: ...........
[Guest] [elzershark]: where is the download file?

Quick reply regarding the April Fools Joke:

1. I am sorry if this scared the crap out of you. That wasn't my intention. I thought it would simply raise a brow and go "wtf?!". I guess that was my mistake. So if you want a formal apology. I'm sorry.

2. A quick way to stop the sounds which doesn't involve modifying code. Go into your addons directory and navigate to "WIM/Sounds" and delete the 2 files aping1.wav and aping2.mp3. You will no longer be bothered by Darth Vader and his crappy modem.

3. If you feel I betrayed your trust, don't. Or do for that matter. The choice is up to you. Whether you use WIM or not doesn't affect me. I don't get paid for the time I put into it. In fact, it costs me money. I've invested about $2,000 into it over the past 2 years in hosting to make it easily accessible for everyone.

4. It's April 1st everyone. I even wrote this storyline for it...

StarWars

Episode VII
The Wrath of Dialup

As the rebellion continues to strengthen after teaming up with both the

Alliance and the Horde to help destroy the empire, Vader tries to

sneak below radar by infiltrating Azeroth and tainting the minds of many

World of Warcraft players. Unfortunately, Vader's plan is foiled! After being

destroyed so many times, the Death Star is no longer equipped with

broadband, so Vader's only option is DIALUP! Vader's determination leads

him to continue his quest hoping that users will have their sound muted

as to take over their Warcraft experience undetected! God... What a noob!

Never Fear however, to help combat against Vader and his evil storm

troopers, you might get lucky and have R2-D2 come to your aid!

Good luck noobies round the world and may the force be with you!

Wow, I'm seriously pissed off right now. And no, I'm not kidding. I just spent the past couple hours virus scanning, rebooting in safe mode, etc. thinking I had Conflicker (which kicks in today) or some other bullshit (WoW password stealing trojan or something) trying to dial out. I nearly had a heart attack and had to bail on my a raid with my friends thinking something was wrong with my PC.

Look, I appreciate a light hearted April Fool's joke as much as the next guy (I've enjoyed many of them today), but this one was in very poor taste. At least you could have had a dialog pop up or something shortly after logging in.

For me, all I did was login to my DK and I heard a computer dialing sound during login.

And since I'm broadband... Tongue

EDIT: and opened a WIM window makes a vader sound.

Where's the joke in it though? There isn't one.

indeed Nacho, it is good. If you're playing WoW, one of the following things will be happening:

1. You're on broadband in which case you either shouldn't have a modem, or should see its doing f/all
2. You're on dialup (in which case, you're going to struggle anyway) your modem is actually in use

In any event, those who don't want to trust WIM anymore should remember: the standard rules of addons apply. Unless you specifically run some exe that you happen to get with whatever addon, all addons can do is screw around with WoW's UI: Sounds, pictures, and UI windows.

Plus with conficker going round, more people being more security concious is always a good thing

On broadband, but I thought my modem was connecting to something (gotta have it for faxes and such and too cheap to use an online service).

The first time I hear it, I thought it was unrelated to WoW as it happened only moments after midnight. The second time it happened is what made me end up Googling for a solution related to WoW.

My biggest problem with it was that it wasn't obvious what was going on or that it was WoW making the sound.

I just got the dialup sound now when I logged in on my Warlock. For some reason it didn't play when I logged in first on my paladin.

Since there was no update to activate this I suppose it was time activated and will stop automatically aswell? (pretty please)

I believe vader was the 'message recieved' sound.

You had to log in after midnight servertime for it to happen. (The wonderfully convenient function that was used to check the day was rather annoyingly based on server time rather than local time)

For some reason it never happened on my priest who I logged onto first. But the priest is level 21, the DK is 70. Something related to level?

It happened to me whenever a wim message window was opened.

Viper007Bond: I think this virus has everyone a little... over jumpy... I mean, at anyone time there is over 15 million/billion viruses on the internet and many of them very destructive. A good antivirus and safe internet practices is all you need to protect your computer from it. All I did yesterday was update my antivirus. I didn't even worry about the virus.
