[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.

This happens with the latest version of WIM (2.1.15) as well as the current WoW 2.1 client.

It's definitely a serious bug and needs to be addressed urgently.

Thanks in advance!

I am going to need a lot more information to help you. I have checked this issue out both with myself and several othe users. No one is having this crash issue. It must be related to something else you have running. I have tested both server and cross-server whispering. I whisper a lot while in bg.

Disable all your addons except for WIM and tell me if it is still crashing. THEN, disable WIM as well and see if it crashes. It may very well be a currupted game file.

Sorry you are having this problem.

1. Yep, it crashes when WIM is the only addon running.

2. No, it does not crash if all addons (inculding WIM) are disabled.

3. The crash always happens when you are in a BG and try to whisper someone on your server, who is outside the BG. Have not had the chance to try it on someone inside the BG (don't want to disturb strangers).

4. Here is a sample of the crash log from the Blizzard reporter:

WoWBuild: 6729
Local Zone: Trollbane Hall, Arathi Basin
Local Player: Myname, 00000000000F183A, (1313.9,1310.74,-9.01043)
Add Ons: WIM WIM_SpamBlocker

Oh yes, one more clue... I was checking out the comments at the WIM page over at ui.worldofwar.net, and found that another user (Arakmage) has been experiencing similar crashes.

His error log shows this:

Assertion Failed!

App: /Applications/World of Warcraft/World of Warcraft.app
File: /Volumes/F2/usrbuild/xb/build/WoW_6692patch2.1.0/WoW/Source/Mac/../../../Storm/Source/SStr.cpp
Line: 1189

Based on this, as well as your confirmation that you have not been experiencing such crashes, I can infer that this happens only for Mac users.

If you know anyone running WoW on a Mac, you can have them install WIM and chances are they will experience these crashes when sending/receiving whispers in BGs.

That would explain why I can't reproduce the error for the life of me...

I don't know what to do really... lol. I have mac. When I get a chance... I guess I install WoW, although I'd rather not clutter it up with wow. Its my comp for graphix only.

I have a mac, I will try that bug.

wow is not cluttering the mac os X.  wow put all files in /Applications/World of Warcraft/
and some common preferences in /Users/Shared/Blizzard

and of course your own preferences in /Users/<login>/Library/Preferences

nothing else.  easy to remove.

same as the other guy (Yupie or something)
><

also, please make it so that you can re-whisper someone. like the chat function re-whisper the last person you whispered with a hot key.

Ok... I loaded Mac on my Itel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro and tested so far AB and Eye. I whispered both players in the bg and outside of the bg and my game did not crash.

I am going to need more help with this. Did bliz by any chance fix this in a patch?
