Recently I've been getting a rash of whisper spam from toons hawking cheap gold. Blizzard implemented a method to report these people by right clicking on their name in a Blizzard standard chat window and selecting the "Report Spam" option. This action not only reports the spammer but it then ignores the spammer for the duration of the login session (apparently separate from the Friends - Ignore list).

When I have WIM enabled, these whispers are intercepted by WIM and never display in the Blizzard standard chat windows. Can WIM be modified to add a report spam button that takes advantage of Blizzard's chat spam reporting mechanics?

Could the reported players also be cached in WIM so that their spams can be intercepted but ignored between sessions, and/or auto reported (again using Blizz's chat spam reporting mechanics?)

Regarding caching the reported players this won't do you any good as the goldspammers usually only spam once with the same toon, then log out and create a new one and go again.

What you could and should do is enable the Example Spam Blocker filter which is set to block whispers from people below lvl 2 as standard.

Edit: but keep an eye on the bug forum. Some players have reported strange behaviour with the level filter enabled but I haven't experienced anything odd myself.

I don't get it... didn't they disallow guest accounts from whispering people unless that person has them on their friends list first? God damn spammers.

I don't know if they did already but if not they should. Perhaps they are using accounts that are supposed to be power leveled

Trials accounts cant whisper, talk in trade or any global channel, or talk in say to a toon more than 20 (? i think) levels above them, they do the spam on stolen or 'borrowed' accounts.

The 3.1 version of Bang Anti Spam is going to work with WIM (or it should anyway :p), and will auto report those whispers for you.
