[DevTeam] [Zeke]: I love that I get emailed when someone reports spam on the boards, but I can't do anything about it.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.

G'day :-)

WIM conflicts with Census - http://www.warcraftrealms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=33999#33999

Plus it prevents my Combat Log from staying locked in-between restarts.

TIA,

In regards to Census, we can play ping pong with the issue for ever as to who is to blame. Truth be told, both addons depend upon /who queries. Constant spam of /who will cause bottlenecks and delay message/process delivery. In the early stages of WIM's development, users asked me to use LibWho, a library which managed and queued /who requests to avoid conflicts with other addons. I listened to these requests. Unfortunately a perfect solution doesn't exist.

I myself, do not use Census although I respect the purpose of the addon. I haven't looked to see how Census utilizes the /who system nor do I know if it uses the LibWho library. If it doesn't, I recommend that it does. It is an accepted standard in the addon community.

That being said, solution you might ask? I am sorry. At the moment the only solution I can think of is pick which addon you would like to use. Either WIM or Census. I do not force anyone to use WIM. I simply made my project available to the public.

As far as your Combat log goes Wizardling, WIM does not touch that frame in anyway. No modifications of options, nada. WIM only filters whisper based events from its lower level event handler.

Thanks for the info re: my combat log. Truth be told a couple days after I posted the above I ran into it being unlocked again - at the time without WIM enabled. Opps :-) Sorry to have blamed WIM *sheepish look*

As for Census - well, like I said in the thread on their site - if it comes down to Census or WIM, it's WIM that wins. It's the only addon I've used that makes whispers in game as useful as regular IMing. Before WIM I constantly missed whispers - it would drive me crazy. I'd miss audio warnings as I focused on gameplay, so those were hopeless. Only WIM grabs my attention :-)

So cheers for a top addon, and without blaming one addon or the other, I do hope eventually Census and WIM can be made to co-exist peacefully at some point in the future.

I just wanted to comment that both addons make use of LibWho, unfortunately, it seems there may be a bug in LibWho that causes it to bottleneck and never return a result in some cases. This happens even with normal /who's with WIM disabled. I haven't had much of a chance to test addons lately, let alone work on my own due to trying to get some achievements knocked out, but I'm on a leave of absence from work for a while, with my second kid being born in 5 days (woot!) so I might get a chance to look at it once I finish those.
