[Rejected] Friends list memory/sharing across characters.

A long while back there was an addon i used called 'myfriends" it was a very simple alteration of list that supported only the most basic stuff WIM did (which is why i switched to WIM, heh). However one thing i have always missed was fact that it automatically remembered friends i added or removed, so when i switched to another toon, It'd automatically sync that list up. Or when i created a new toon, when i'd log in, it'd automatically add 50 names to list so I didn't have to type them all in, or try to remember them all. I would definitely like to see a similar feature come to WIM. Could be automatic, or even manually. The only problem with myfriends was that the addon had to do it by storing a local copy of your friends list on machine. If you use multiple machines, or if you disable it for any reason the copy on disk might get way out of sync with what you have on live and as a result do more harm than good at login. I once logged in after having it off for 4 months (was using WIM) and I forgot to delete the lua file from WTF first (if there is no local copy on computer it does it's first sync and doesn't mess with list). Well when I did this, it deleted 20 people from list and added people whom I had long since deleted or who had stopped playing, heh. So in that regard the feature isn't without a price of fair warning before use. But definitely something to consider.

There will always be a synch issue. And here's why...

Friends are stored on the server... keeping a copy in your saved variables, of course is temp. However the issue is, if you add a friend and WoW doesn't close correctly, the changes will have taken place on the server but not saved in your saved variables... I think what you are requesting is a good feature but should it be WIM's job and not another addon's? IMO it should be its own addon. Although when I am done working on what I want to finish in WIM, i could revisit this request.

Hunt up FriendWithBenefits. I've been using it to sync friends lists. Has worked well for a few patches now. Given Blizz though... may break yet.
