[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.

Hi.

I have just removed all instances of WIM and also wiped WTF folder for any settings related to WIM to make sure this wasn't a conflict with old setups.

However this "bug" seems to stick. I can be in the middle of a conversation and suddenly realize that my last whisper didn't go through to the person I was talking to. It can happen right in the beginning or after several minutes of talking. I usually turn of WIM and ask them if they got my latest whisper and they say they did. However when the bug kicks in all my whispers to that person won't show up and I don't get any of their whispers.

I am using Prat 3 as the only addon I can think of that could interfere with WIM but I haven't had much time to test any conflicts. Just wanted to let you guys know that something might be up.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to provide better info on this one.

Thanks.

Edit: I think it might have something to do with special characters. I could be wrong but I just experienced this bug with 2 people in a row who both had special characters in their name e.g "í ù ô" etc.
Edit2: Scratch that, just happened with someone without special characters in his name.

I am going to ask you to run a test session and disable all of your addons except for WIM. I know this is annoying but we need to see if it is a conflict with another addon or not.

Keep me posted on your findings.

Boy is this going to be ugly :p

Alright I will probably try running without anything but WIM sometime tomorrow when I'm just idling anyway. Worst part is that it's so hard to reproduce. Doesn't seem to be very consistent so I hope I won't have to go through every addon 1 by 1 ;p
I will keep you posted, thanks for replying.

I just stood in Dalaran for about 15 minutes without any addons but WIM activated. I experienced nothing weird.
I then activated Prat 3 and started talking to people in whispers, still nothing weird.
I tried activating all my addons again and I have still not seen anything weird.

I was wondering if there is any tool you can keep running that debugs what is happening to addons? That way I could just notice the time and date I experience it next time and check a debug log or something.

I can't seem to reproduce this problem right now but I will let you know if I find out about anything else.

i have this issue also, doesn't happen all the time but i keep missing whispers and the level filter doesn't seem to work (not sure if this is linked)

I'll try running the debug next time this starts to happen, after the last time this happened i disabled Ace 2.0 not sure if this is the cause or not. I'll have a better idea of the next few days

are you catching/showing lua errors? if not, turn them on, if so do any errors occur when the problem starts?

no lua errors when it starts, haven't yet got a pattern when it happens, the whispers still come as elephant records them, wim is detecting them as it catches it from my chat but it just doesn't display them or record them

I'm experiencing a similar issue but don't know if it is related, here is what occurs:

- After being logged in for a period of time, sometimes 1 minute, sometimes 5, sometimes an hour, Outgoing whispers will begin to lag and then take awhile before they go to the recipient. It can take anywhere from a few seconds to as many as 15-20 minutes before the outgoing whisper finally receives the whisper.
- Incoming whispers are fine and do not experience lag.
- Incoming whispers come in as random text in differing ASCII characters. Someone sent me a hello and it came thru in WIM as just a bunch of jumbled characters.
- The problem is on and off. Sometimes whispers will begin to go out normally without delay. Then after a few moments the problem comes back and outgoing whispers are lagged.

I've tried turning off every mod but WIM to troubleshoot the issue. Unfortunately since the lag doesn't always begin after a specific period of time, it's hard to determine if there is a specific mod that is conflicting with WIM. As such I am at a loss as to figuring out if there are any conflicts. Hopefully the behavior I've described will help narrow the issue.

The only other mods I have right now that do anything with chat are:

1. Prat
2. GroupCalendar (This intercepts whispers to facilitate invites)
3. DeadlyBossMods (Autoresponder for boss fights)

edit.. There are no LUA errors being thrown when the behavior occurs.
edit.. Added another behavior

FelonyOne. It sounds as though an addon of yours is sending a lot of data accross the addon channels. ChatThrottleLib (which WIM uses) throttles messages so you do not get DC'd due to over activity. Your symptons sound as though the messages are being throttled. However... 15min seems like a LONG time... When you are on just socializing, take advantage and keep only WIM running. see if it happens.

If this is correct, will turning off Wim2Wim help alleviate the traffic?

I turned on Wim Debuf for awhile and I saw alot of GetLoc messages. I'm assuming the GetLoc is was WIM uses to update another WIM user's location.

Also, is there a way to monitor the addon channels to see which Addon of mine is sending so much data?

Thanks again for your help, I feel at a loss without being able to use WIM since I'm a raid leader.

I just experienced this again. Haven't experienced this since I made this thread a few days ago.
It was with all my addons on.

I see I'm not the only one getting this, I just hope we can get any closer to the cause and a possible solution.

I have the similar issue.

The problem appears as if my conversation partner is silent. I get no whispers from him. And when I ask him why he does not say anything, I (of course) get WIM popup window, which is being filled by his questions about me ignoring him. This means that he was sending me whispers, but I was not getting them.

Such problem hard to reproduce and find, because you never know who whispered you. Even if I see some whisper, I from now have a full right to suspect that 10 more people whispered me, but I did not see their messages. No way to know.

In order to see somebody's message I have to whisper him back, in which case I get both his messages and my own one (as the latest). But I can't ask hundreds of players on server if they whispered me or not.

Sometimes the problem seems to disappear after relog. But again - how to know if it disappeared or not? You never know if anybody whispered you if you do not get messages, since you may not getting messages because people do not send them, as well as because WIM loses them.

So I currently had to disable WIM.

I just noticed the problem occurs more during the evening hours when more people in my guild who use WIM are logged on.

I turned on WIM Debug again and I constantly see:

Guild:<User>->Negotiate:3.0.5:0

I get a steady stream of this one message when more and more people login.

I did a couple of things to minimize the data going over the addon channel, like turned off guild sharing in Gatherer, turned off Wim2Wim, turned off guild POIs in Cartographer, but apparently it's still not enough so the problem continues to persist.

What is the message above for?
