[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.

It seems that whenever someone sends an initial whisper the whole game lags for a few seconds.  Several of my friends that use WIM have also noticed this problem.  It always happens on the first whisper that someone sends, even if you have other WIM windows open already.

At first I thought it was Prat that was conflicting with it but I turned Prat off and it still continues to have this problem.  I'm not using any other chat mods at the moment and neither are my friends.

Just thought I'd let you know about this.  I've also seen it lag when moving the WIM window around but this is a different issue because we don't move our windows around much because we have them all tabbed together.

I have actually seen this to with the latest build. Not always, but sometimes there is some lag on the initial whisper received from someone. I'll try to dig into it a bit more.

I optimized the loading of textures as much as I could. I am afraid it is a system issue and not a software issue. Some say even their bags lag a little when opening for the first time. Either it is something with WoW's graphic rendering or just a system issue. I myself do no have any lag. Also a majority of users who reported the lag in the past have verified that it works smoothly now after the last update.

Mostly for the record: using WIM 3.0.5, the freezes are still present. One time I can switch between tabs without a slightest lag, a next time the screen locks up for up to 5 seconds. Same with incoming whispers, but I'm sure the problem description is quite familiar by now.

The thing is, I cannot really understand how this could be a system issue. Surely, the initial opening of any frame also causes a slight pause, a hardly noticable fps drop, but not a full freeze of 5 seconds, repeatedly.

It happens on both my pc's:

CPU: Pentium 4 3Ghz
RAM: 2Gb
Video: NVidia GeForce 7600 GS
Driver: ForceWare 178.24
Windows XP SP2

CPU: AMD Athlon 65 X2 Dual Core 4200 2.2 GHz
RAM: 4Gb
Video: NVidia 7900 GT
Driver: ForceWare 178.13
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

I'd hate to play without WIM, so I'm going to perform some tests without SpamMeNot, or even without any other addon than WIM, perhaps there's something else interfering. It's just nearly unplayable at the moment; heh, I'm sooo afraid someone will whisper me when I'm about to pull a group/boss.

I understand the frustration. The only difference between texture loading in WIM and with Blizz itself is that blizz loads their native file formats. blp. wim uses tga.

I would love to find a solution to this as well. I run WIM on a PC and on a Mac and I can not replicate this problem. If it does not lag with your addons disabled (WIM enabled only) then maybe you wouldn't mind helping out the community and seeing if/which addon is causing WIM to lag.

Thanks for your help.

I get maybe half a second or so of lag when I get my first whisper, but the same thing happens when I open my talent frame, bags, character screen, just about any window really, for the first time when I log in. I've never seen an issue quite like yours, and if it gets worse each time you open the window, then I don't think it's textures, as those only load once as far as I know.

Since version 3 WiM is practically unusable because of constant freezing entire WoW for periods between 2 and 5 seconds.
Freezing is happening when someboedy sends the message for the first time, and when you cycle trough tabs.

I know many my guidlies experiencing the problem and disableing WiM after more then year of usage.

I hope this can be solved. I thought it was problem related to history loading (something that gave me freezings before) but disableing history didn't help.

Cheers, and thanks for great addon.

This is very serious issue, I think there should be more attention to it. Lagging of TBag and other graphic addons is nothing comparing to WiM.

I am also using the latest build and I continually get the lag problem. I've disabled ALL of my addons, 'cept WIM and it still happens.

Its not a system problem either. Im on a Mac
Model Name:   Power Mac G5 Quad
  Model Identifier:   PowerMac11,2
  Processor Name:   PowerPC G5 (1.1)
  Processor Speed:   2.5 GHz
  Number Of CPUs:   4
L2 Cache (per CPU):   1 MB
  Memory:   1 GB
  Bus Speed:   1.25 GHz
  Boot ROM Version:   5.2.7f1

Its so bad that I've had to disable the auto pop up when OOC, and just click on the mini map icon when I hear that I've gotten a new message. Even doing that I still get lag for about 3-5 seconds before the window pops up, or I'm cycling through tabs.

I love WIM and I hope you guys can find a fix for this.

Actually, you don't have to cycle trough tabs. If you have several tabs open and incoming message belongs to the user which tab is not visible at the moment, there will be around 5 seconds delay. Disableing all addons doesn't help, nor it makes the difference if user alrady has a history or is it PUG whisper 4 the first time.

My raid wiped yesterday cuz of this stupid situation: My raid leader was on 2nd tab which wasn't activated at the moment. When I received the messge from Big WIngs that "I am going to explode" or something so I need to move away, I got 5 seconds delay. Raid wiped as I couldn't move.

I really doubt it is WoW issue as no other addon has that kind of problem. There are lags, but its never more then 2 seconds, which happens only when I open some proffesion links which as you know contain bunch of data.

Until this issue is solved, Ill switch to TellTrack or something similar, because its really unusable.
Bunch of my friends report the same problem so it seems it is configuration independent.

I hope that this can be fixed rly, so I can get back to my favorite addon.

People with lag, please answer the following questions for me. If you already answered one of these, please be patient and just respond again.

1. Does the lag occur when WIM is the only addon loaded?

2. Do you experience lag when loading WIM's options screen for the first time? (I ask because a lot more is going on in that screen then a WIM window.)

3. Does the lag still occur when you disable fading (in display options of /wim)

4. Does the lag occur when Tab management is disabled? (Please note if you have tabs loaded already, run /wim rl after disabling them to reload your UI before testing.)

Please note, I do not need your graphics card information. If that was an issue, it would clarify a system problem rather than an issue with WIM.

Hey there,

I registered just so I could respond to this - I love the Addon, but this lag issue is really a nuisance.  Let me answer your questions to see if I can help.

1. Does the lag occur when WIM is the only addon loaded?

Yes.

2. Do you experience lag when loading WIM's options screen for the first time? (I ask because a lot more is going on in that screen then a WIM window.)

No.

3. Does the lag still occur when you disable fading (in display options of /wim)

Yes.

4. Does the lag occur when Tab management is disabled? (Please note if you have tabs loaded already, run /wim rl after disabling them to reload your UI before testing.)

No!  Amazing, the lag did NOT occur when I was not using Tab Management.  That could be a hint?

Hello.

I disabled tabs and it seems to work without too much lagging now although I need to test it a bit more. The worst lagg was about 2s, windows were usualy poping up imediattely.

Recently, I was getting some very long lags, even about 10s.

I will test some more and will answer other questions soon.

cheers.
