[DevTeam] [Zeke]: I love that I get emailed when someone reports spam on the boards, but I can't do anything about it.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.
[Guest] [Theillur]: http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index.php/topic,1796.0.html
[Guest] [Nev]: I'm here
[Guest] [Nev]: I don't think anyone else is though

I just release WIM 3.0.4 Beta. This update resolves most of the bugs posted on the forums here.

Most importantly, the animation when minimizing WIM's windows will no longer crash your game. It was a hard bug to track down but in the end it did have to do with your particular systems. The cause of the crash has been detected and prevented. Thank you for your patience while we were solving that issue.

Next, the issue of lag has been resolved when switching tabs or opening windows. Texture loading has been optimized by preloading textures instead of loading them when needed. Some of you might still have lag but as you notice, you might also be receiving lag when opening and closing your bags. This lag is not caused by WIM and is infact caused by your system. Lag loading textures might be a problem with your video cards, direct x or might even be the sign of hard drive or memory failure. There are many reasons which cause this, but we have taken the initiative to optimize WIM as much as possible.

Below is the complete change log:
  • History frame was named incorrectly. 'WIM3_HistoryFrame' is its new name.
  • Socket only compresses large transmissions to minimize resource usage.
  • Optimized tabs.
  • Tabs scroll correctly now.
  • Location button on shortcut uses special W2W tooltip if applicable.
  • History viewer wasn't displaying realms which had non-alphanumeric characters in it.
  • Fixed bug where alerts where referencing minimap icon even though it hasn't been loaded.
  • WIM now comes packaged with LibBabble-TalentTree-3.0 and further defines class information.
  • Added W2W Talent Spec sharing.
  • Lowered options frame strata from DIALOG to MEDIUM.
  • Fixed animation crash (Caused by blizzards ScrollingMessageFrame).
  • WIM's widget API now calls UpdateSkin method of widget if available upon skin loading.
  • Long messages are now split correclty without breaking links.
  • LastTellTarget is not set correctly when receiving AFK & DND responses.
  • WIM now uses LibWho-2.0. WhoLib-1.0 is not considered depricated.
  • Removed dependencies(libs) of all Ace2 addons including Deformat.

Other feature requests and bug issues have not been ignored. Some of the issues fixed in this update where of high priority and therefore I felt the need to push this release out.

Important Note! WIM no longer uses WhoLib-1.0 because it is now considered to be obsolete. Instead WIM uses its successor LibWho-2.0. If you are running any addons which use WhoLib-1.0 WIM will not be able to process any who look ups. Inform any authors using WhoLib-1.0 and ask them to update.

A final note, WIM no longer uses any Ace2 libraries. Before updating, to keep your addon folder clean, you should delete your WIM folder from your AddOns directory.

-Pazza

PS: Thank you to the beta teams hard work in solving these issues and maintaining the forums here. Special thanks to Zeke for allowing me to crash your system over and over until we solved the animation glitch.

Excellent news and great job, Pazza! I'm really happy to hear you managed to find the cause of the freeze problem! Smiley

Btw, some things that confused me in your post:
Quote
WIM now uses LibWho-2.0. WhoLib-1.0 is not (now?) considered depricated.
Quote
Instead WIM uses its predecessor (successor?) LibWho-2.0.

About this LibWho-2.0... is it a matter of replacing the name in the instantiation of AceLibrary("WhoLib-1.0") (besides copying the lib directory and including it in the embeds.xml), or is the new lib not backwards compatible and does code have to be adapted as well? Is there any documentation about this library at all?

It is a dropin replacement minus all the dependency libraries. You just need LibStub

WhoLib = LibStub:GetLibrary("LibWho-2.0");

The only other change is that WhoLib-1.0 has a spelling mistake in a var name.
WHOLIB_FLAG_ALLWAYS_CALLBACK is now WHOLIB_FLAG_ALWAYS_CALLBACK

just look through the addon using it and change that text.

I'm realy sorry to say this, but the freeze problem is still present without a slightest change Sad
Incoming whispers are preceeded by a 2-3 second freeze, and also switching from one tab to another causes the UI to freeze for a few seconds... most often...

The new SpamMeNot supposedly uses LibWho-2.0, and indeed it doesn't give errors anymore. However, it seems the entire who-lookup fails, since WIM does not display character information, like class and level, nor does it update the zone the player is in. What could be the cause?

Could the two problems be related? I mean... upon an incoming whisper it performs this who-query, right? And apparently this query fails (for whatever reason), so I can imagine WIM is waiting for a result that never comes. I'm just guessing here...

there is an issue with libwho-2.0 not executing callbacks if the data is already cached, this one should have been fixed in svn

I pulled that last version from SVN, and the who-queries work fine again, and I seem to have a LOT less freezing... in fact, the only time I've seen a freeze so far is when closing one tab (shift-click cross) in a two-tabbed window. Not upon incoming whispers, not when switching between tabs, major improvement! Smiley
