I found myself wishing for this option many many times.
It would be wonderfull, if we could click a button or tab to organize the WIM history by date and hour.
I.E. the last conversation that was ended, would apear at the top.
That way it would be possible to find a chat that was done with a unknoun player just a few minutes ago. We forgot he's name, but we can easily find it by date & time you see...? 

I imagine it would be much harder to make a history search - and maybe even too much of a CPU consumer. But a "organize by time" function shouldn't be too big right?

Well you can look up by time by using the user and date filters. By selecting all users (which might take a bit of loading depending on the size of your history) and then by date if needed. Although the newest messages will be at the bottom of the history view, all messages are sorted by the time they were sent/received.

Well it helps, but not enough. The reasons for it are two:
1) I can't set it to be the default way it shows the history once I've opened WoW. Thus I have to do the proccess every time I get into WoW.
2) The history is so large, that it disconnects wow just to try and order it by date. And it's not like there's an in-game "Export\Import History" function (could be an idea for you btw ).

Yea that lag/dc kinda happens when your db is larger than normal. I'm guessing that you're just recording every conversation with every toon. That seems to be the key for that one

You're not the first person to mention this. I know I'd love to have a feature like this. Now if only I knew how to code.... Something that would maybe allow you to export the history in format X then clear your history to reduce lag.

Or... Maybe a way to seperate the history by day so that when viewing by time/date, you could pick just one day to view before it tries to load everything. (If this is somewhat implemented already forgive me, I haven't logged in for a couple weeks.)
