As far as I've found, nothing quite like this has been requested, but I wholeheartedly apologize if I've just skipped over/missed it.

What I'd like to see is some kind of pane that can display Guild or Friends similar to most IM clients, as well as an ability to define a custom status for yourself.  I see multiple applications for the same as a status option would allow guilds/groups/friends to display their availability for groups/instances/etc without having to rely on Looking For Group/More.  This would allows players who wish to be more selective to requests to maintain some privacy and control.

I'm not sure if a changed status acted as a kind of broadcast whisper would fall under Blizzard's spam guildlines, but it'd only be displayed to those already in your friends list/guild. 

I certainly appreciate WIM and all your efforts. It's easily among my favorite (and most used) add-ons.

Hopefully this summer, I will have the time to work on more plugins which will included features such as you are requesting.

tbh, I am brainstorming/working on WIM 3.0 which I hope to have released for when WotLK comes out. I am rewritting WIM completely in order to make the addition of these new plugins to be easier and more intuitive for other developers to addon to WIM. The task isn't the easiest for me to do, and time is always an issue. But I do look forward to adding more to and continuing to developer WIM.
