Re-opening a closed request: Block Whispers per User Level

I have an idea on how you can achieve this.

Ok, so we know that the WIM window has to open to obtain this information based on the previous request linked to, why not just simply close the window again?

Sure it bugs us for a microsecond whilst it opens then closes again. But at least those that want this filter get it.

You could even have it open and then close for a split second and then print a message in the General Chat: 'WIM has closed a PM from a Level 5 warlock called Bobo. Your current filter is set to filter messages from levels 10 and less.'

Just a thought. It can't be any more annoying than the auto-duel denier. A flag comes down, then goes away and a pm is send saying the player won't duel you. People that don't want to duel put up with this, I am positive people that want to filter out lower level PMs will put up with a quick message window popping up then being automatically closed by WIM for them.

My thoughts... I think it is doable but I do not like the approach. It is sloppy and very Microsoft. The best way to achieve such a goal would be to use a third party addon. Perhaps someone would be willing to make one that Hooks WIM, does its checks and then tells WIM to continue what it was doing or filter.

I do not see WIM having this feature unless Blizzards introduces a function call that receives information on a player, other than having to hack the who screen. The who screen has latency and is what makes this feature unacceptable to me.

Perhaps a future plugin once I add a plugin system. There are a few options out there already that are compatible with WIM such as SpamSentry.
