[Guest] [joshmiller83]: Can we get an Astrolabe fix please? Or has WIM stopped being developed?
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: You can disable wim2wim for now or visit the forum thread where you originally posted the issue
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Yay for spam!
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: ....
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: I love that I get emailed when someone reports spam on the boards, but I can't do anything about it.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.
[Guest] [Theillur]: http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index.php/topic,1796.0.html
[Guest] [Nev]: I'm here
[Guest] [Nev]: I don't think anyone else is though
[Guest] [tomasio]: great site [url=http://freeonlinemusicvideos.net].[/url] [url=http://freepeopleclothing.org].[/url]
[Guest] [Theillur]: Nev it is not working for Zeke as well.

[DevTeam] [lothaer]: Zeke, Maziel, Pazza, Nachonut, sylvanaar, Kaidenn, Astaldo where are you?
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: It would be a real shame if WIM was left to die.
[DevTeam] [lothaer]: i think these forums are dead, Sylvanaar dosnt post on them as he only bug fixes when possible. WIMs future isnt very bright
[Guest] [justgiz]: Yea, its rather sad.
[Guest] [silvercola]: I wish it had skype

[UPDATE]SpamSentry is now being developed again. I am working with the author to get some WIM issues resilved.

There have been reports that SpamSentry, a great addon for blocking all types of spam, is conflicting with WIM.

I have tried to contact it's author but it would appear as though the project has been abandoned.

If you are having issues with /who requests and/or friends frame actions while having both WIM and SpamSentry loaded, I regret to say that you will have to stop using one of them. Which is your preference and I take no insult if SpamSentry is the better choice for you. I can not force WIM to be compatible if this addon is no longer going to be updated. Even if I get it to work now, there is no telling what future updates from Blizzard will do to it. We will be at the same state as we are now.

Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, but I am not taking on the task of maintaining another addon. It is too time consuming. I prefer to keep WIM my focus.

Thanks for understanding.

-Pazza

PS: If the developmental progress of SpamSentry changes, please let me know and my views will be reconsidered.

I have not fully tested this, but WhoLib has been updated. I packaged it with my developement version of WIM. I also loaded spam senstry and I have not seen any obvious problems from them working together.

Could this be why I am now getting gold spam in whispers? I am not seeing any errors with either addon, but as you say, they are just not playing nice together anymore. Seems like after the last WIM update, the "block by level" setting in SpamSentry doesn't work anymore, and I don't know whether this is something that changed in WIM or not. Previously I never received any whisper spam because SS was blocking everything below level 20, but last night I received three in five minutes, all from level 1 characters. The only thing that changed in the past few days was the WIM repackage.

WIM is a great addon, and I appreciate your hard work on it. Thank you.

The problem with WIM and SpamSentry has always been the issue of /who lookups. Again, I have tested only to see if WIM behaves incorrectly in my development version. I have not tested whether or not SpamSentry works correctly. Whisper spamming doesn't seem to be an issue on my server and no one seems to bother me. So I can't test it that way.

As far as spam getting through, it may very well have to do with the fact that it is never getting access to the /who lookups. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be releasing  an update which fixes the bugs reported by users this week. Included in the update is an updated version of WhoLib which claims to have fixed many of the problems which existed within it.

Anyway... After tomorrows update, let me know how things work for you. I would love to have this issue closed. At least until Blizzard breaks something. lol

I'm using SpamMeNot, an Ace2 addon with similar anti-spam features that is still being updated regularly. Recently I've been getting messages from people (via say or party chat) that they cannot whisper me. This only happens to people not in my guild or friends list.

I was curious what exactly is happening with this WhoLib and if it's related to the problem mentioned in this thread.

They receive the following message:
[SpamMeNot] Timed out while attempting to look up your details. Your message was undelivered.

I did download the WIM update, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I am still getting whispers from level 1 characters named "Wowgoldxxx" even though SpamSentry says to block anyone under level 10. At this point I am about ready to ditch SpamSentry, as the author doesn't seem to care about it anymore. Any suggestions?

The note from dracula reminded me of an issue I noticed some time ago with WIM and forgot to mention - occasionally it would seem like I lost the first whisper from someone. For example, someone would send me a whisper asking for a port to someplace, but I would not receive it. Then I would get a second message that just said "SW?" At first I thought the person was just being rude, then someone else asked me a question and then later asked me if I had seen it. I finally figured out that whenever someone would initiate a conversation, the first message would get lost.

its an unfortunate side effect of trying to run wim_spamblocker with spamsentry. with the right modifications to spamsentry it can work, otherwise things get messy

So what should I use instead? What has WIM been tested with?

Anyone else using SpamMeNot in combination with WIM?

I'm hesitant to use them together because of my former report. It's impossible to notice whether people are falsely blocked.

I contacted Anea, the author of SpamSentry about the changes in WIM. You will have to wait for his update. WIM has adapted to the new API introduced in WoW 2.4. Unfortunately many will have to wait for their favorite addons to be updated.
