One of the issues I have with chatting in WoW was solved perfectly by the Filter option in WIM, the entirety of the reason I'm using the addon now (tabs, avoiding misstells, ect being a bonus.) Gold farming whispers really irked me, so I just add them to the filters and leave it be, everything's fine. But recently I've been having an issue wherein people are logging off their mains to harass me on an alt of my own faction due to PVP (let's say I catch someone flagged in WPL, we fight, I win, and they want to log over and swear at me.) There's no real way to prevent this as it stands, many old addons such as Whisper Me Not were fantastic for this kind of thing but they're no longer up to date.
Adding some kind of VIP list/friendslist and having the option to block all tells that aren't from the list (be it your ingame friendslist, one provided with the addon, guild roster, or something to that effect) would be fantastic as well.
This would also be a big help to mages, who are constantly being asked for water - priests who never get a rest from "Wanna run this? Wanna heal this? Would you mind running us through this?" or for guildmasters who are trying to set up an event. It'd be a great solution to a lot of problems I know I've experienced through chatting.
