[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: Ah.. thanks for the clarification and apologies for "crying wolf" in that case :
[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.
[Developer] [Pazza]: loaded some new spam prevention modules... lets see if this stops the bastards.
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Thought I'd check in and say Howdy Doody from Australia
[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.
Zeke pokes his head around the corner.
[DevTeam] [Zeke]: Anybody home?
[Guest] [Theillur]: I would like to know if it is just me.

lol

Well the plug-in ability would be the best option, since you wouldn't over-load the core WIM ideals and no one could complain that WIM has become 'bloated'.

But there is no rush matie, the plug in idea if you are able to get it working, is a great one.

Themes, again something people could complain about an addon becoming bloated is a good one to throw into the category of plug-ins.

Basically then the users with lower RAM and low end pcs can gain the core functions of WIM in a light weight standard version and then choose to add stuff to it or not.

Make sense to me mate Smiley

I am sorry but as of now, that functionality does not fall into the realm of the project goal. Perhaps in the future I will add a plugin for chats. Till then whispers only. sorry.

Perhaps the project realm has expanded as more popular WIM has become?

I myself would also love to have WIM capture Party, Guild and Officer chats in their own windows away from General chat with the ability of logging.

Sounds like a very good expansion of WIM's realm. =)

Sorry to dig up a somewhat old thread...but unless you plan on spending YOUR spare time developing an addon for no money or reason other than as a hobby, I believe the "project realm" is up to the developer.

And if your computer honestly can't handle another chat addon, and the minimal memory increase associated with it, perhaps it's time to upgrade?

Ow, harsh! Computers are expensive, you know, and even those that zoom through the basic WoW requirements can eventually find themselves bogged down, given enough extra baggage. : / This seems like such an exceptionally useful addon that to make it too memory-intensive would be a crying shame.

That would be excellent. I use ChatLog currently - it lets you pull *everything* out as a separate window - officer chat, loot messages, you name it, and see up to I think 1000 lines of history? as well as auto-chatlogging, of course - BUT! (and this is the reason I'm carefully considering also getting WIM) ...it doesn't separate whispers by username.

As far as party chat, though, I just have a third window in the default chatbox that just has whispers and party together.

Sounds great mate! Smiley

I never said 'my' computer can't.

Even though our computers may handle a lot, it is still a good idea to think of others.

That said, the minimum requirements to just handle Outlands decently is probably more than enough memory needed to successfully run larger add-ons.

But we still should consider the needs of others as much as we can. Smiley

I know you (admin/creator) at first said, that it was beyond WIM's scope to handle anything but whispers, but as Maziel also points out, IM's today are more than just a 2 person chat, because by far the most of them, are able to have chats with several persons.

I really think that's something that should be considdered very seriously to be implemented for WIM, as it would remove the need for the standard chat windows which are pretty annoying compared to what WIM offers.

I'd actually like to extend it quite a bit too, and let people be able to invite to "chatrooms", by creating channels and discussing there with others in private. This of course adds quite a few challenges, as you'll have to check if the channel is already in use, and if it is, move on to another channel. Also if others that are not invited join the channel, it should change the channel, trough commands send by whisper (from the host) to all participants, and let it change channel in the background, to prevent people spying.

I'm personally spreading this addon everywhere I can, and there's very few I know by now that doesn't have WIM, so more functionality is very welcome.. Smiley

As some also mentioned though, there's also a question of ressources, which brings me to, that perhaps a "light" version should be considered too, in case that WIM grows too big in the future for all computers to be able to use it without suffering in performance.

Anyways, I really hope you (Pazza) will seriously consider expanding the scope to include chat in general. It would seriously improve the possibilities players would have to customize their UI.. Smiley

The reason I would like this is for the ability to "save" the chats for Guild and Officer.  I can't count the times I've gone in and copy/pasted whispers to "prove" what others have said/back up what I've said.

I thank you for making this mod and I hope you will continue!

I promise you 2 things... Can't say when though... lol..

1. Chat will never be part of the core of WIM. This also goes in regards to constantly building WIM and making it demand more and more CPU/Memory -- which for most -- doesn't make a dent. But the others, it's true. I am trying to make WIM more modular by slowly improving it's plugin system as I make new plugins. Many features that don't fall within what I think is WIM's "realm" will most likely be in the form of plugins. That brings us to...

2. Chat will be brought to you as a WIM plugin. Don't go nuts... I haven't started it yet, don't plan on it in the near future either. At this point, once I'm finally moved into my new place and have a minute to myself, my goal is to iron out the kinks that exist in the current version of WIM. Since the 2.2 release of WIM, there have been many bugs reported. All lingering around the same issues... (whispers not going through -- due to outdated libraries attached to other addons hense breaking WIM and WIM2WIM spamming)... Once those are taken care of, then I can start brainstorming on what's next.

Usually on these big patch days, I try to have new treats/features loaded into WIM. I tend to keep them secret to give a fun element for people, but unfortunately, life has left me extremely occupied these past few months. Big life changes, just being busy with RL things in general. Oh boy... late night ramble.. long story short, I'm not going anywhere, and everyone's requests are considered equally.. and never 'deleted' even if rejected. I could always change my mind and dig through the rejected threads and reopen them.

Anyway... Sleep time. Thanks for your post.
