I would like to be able to put officer chat in it's own window.

I have received requests to implement chat channels into their own windows however this would now swing WIM into more than what it was intended for. My best suggestions, if you want your own chat window for officers chat (or any channel for that matter) to create a new tab in the default chat frame. you can then position that wherever you like.
WIM is an instant messenger "type" addon, and therefore chat falls outside of the realms of its purpose.

You cannot separate officer chat from guild chat . Creating a new window does solve the problem. It just puts guild **and** officer chats into a new window. In a large guild with a lot of people talking.. it can be missed. Plus which fact I'd like to have the history aspect. Anyone who uses officer chat has to precede each statement with /o.... just like /w, /r or /tell. It is never a separate channel (ie when you do /g, it leaves you in guild chat until you use another slash command. This is *not* true of officer chat.)
I really wish you would reconsider since it would be beneficial to a lot of people.

Like I responded in a previous request, WIM is a whisper handler, not chat. Will WIM extend beyond whispers in the future? possibly...

It's really too bad that the author of this great WIM addon can't see the value in what I requested. So instead I need yet another chat addon in order to have officer chat stand alone instead of combined with guild chat.

Perhaps the project realm has expanded as more popular WIM has become?
I myself would also love to have WIM capture Party, Guild and Officer chats in their own windows away from General chat with the ability of logging.
Sounds like a very good expansion of WIM's realm. =) |

Regarding Officer's chat not "sticking" ChatMOD fixed this problem. It has some other neat functions too and although it doesn't get you a nice WIM window for your chat at least you don't have to remember all the time to use /o.

Great chat addon!
I would like to second this request. A party/guild tab would be awesome. I get used to using your excellent chat interface and then have to cast it aside as soon as I party up. :-(

As with all 'Instant Messengers', they grow beyond their initial humble beginnings.
As you already know Pazza, I fourth this request. 
I understand you say WIM is a Whisper Handler not a Chat, but it is titled Instant Messenger so there is definately room for expansion later on with that name in mind.
I would love to see WIM3 include these other options, but even if it never does, I wouldn't give up WIM for any alternative add-on.

Ok... Bareing I am able to complete the following goals for WIM...
1. Plugin Interface - Developers can create their own plugins.
2. Themes - Including loading of custom skins & sound packs.
... WIM3 will have a chat management system. :-)
Don't ask when will WIM3 come out. lol I have quite a lot to do till then :-).
