[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: lol i got you
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: How about "hide email address from public checked" and it's still visible in all my posts...
[DevTeam] [Astaldo]: I'd delete my account on this site, but by the time I realized the problem half the spambots on the planet had it already
[Developer] [Pazza]: Astaldo if you log out and view your profile with a refresh you'll see that your email is hidden.
[Developer] [Pazza]: Your user level on the forums permit you to see emails even though they are marked hidden.

[DevTeam] [Kaidenn]: PAZZA! i miss you.
[DevTeam] [Nachonut]: Lol, it's funny how it takes spam message reports to get me to come back
[DevTeam] [sylvanaar]: Check out the beta tester forum. Need alpha testers and feedback so I can come up with a maintenance plan.

[DevTeam] [Maziel]: Yeah the spam from shoes salesmen was becoming insane
[Guest] [Delakando]: What ever happened to the ability to track friend's location by wim? Other then just showing their general zone location.

Hi everyone,

ever since I installed WIM 3.4.1 I've been having small hiccups when changing to another zone. I've been able to track these millisecond-long freezes down to the Astrolabe library (revision 107). Specifically, Astrolabe listens for the ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA event and in Astrolabe.lua lines 902 and 903 runs

Code:
frame:Hide();
frame:Show();

Hiccups even happen when WIM is the only add-on I load. Commenting out these two lines resolves the issue and zone transitions become smooth again.

Is there a chance you could look into this issue?

All the best,

Con

I appreciate the heads up. You should direct this to the maker of Astrolabe though. You will still have the issue with WIM being the only addon loaded because WIM uses the library as well. Thanks again

Thanks for the reply, I've reported the issue over at Norganna's ticket tracker as issue ASTR-4 and left a post named ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA causes Astrolabe to temporarily freeze. That's the best I could find for where actual communication with users is going on. We'll see how this develops.

All the best!

I replied on your issue ticket, can you check if making the change I suggested also resolves it?

Commenting out those 2 lines is the same as unregistering (or commenting out) the initial RegisterEvent("ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA") in Astrolabe.

Try instead replacing those 2 lines with
Code:
Astrolabe:OnShow( frame )
and do your tests again.

Over at Norganna's forums a user chimed in with a link to the WoW bug report forums, specifically mentioning a topic called (Bug) WatchFrame using excessive CPU. In short, WIM and by extension the Astrolabe library aren't the real culprits. Their behaviour is merely a symptom. Post-patch 4.0.1 tracking achievements with many criteria causes freezes on several regular player activities such as changing to another zone.

The more criteria you watch the more noticable freezes become.

Incidentally, on all my characters I was tracking one or more achievements, some of which had quite a few criteria. Turning those achievements off produced smooth zone transitions even with the unmodified Astrolabe library revision 107, even though the change does make a tiny bit of a difference.

I consider this issue resolved. For the time being I'll simply work around WatchFrame's limitations by tracking fewer or smaller achievements at a time until Blizzard changes the frame's behaviour. Hopefully. I've reported the same findings over at Norganna's forums and at their issue tracker.

Thanks for your input, all the best!
