WIM Bug in 3.3.5 Battle.net

So if a Real ID friend sends me a tell and I hit R to reply. I get No player named '___' is currently playing. However if I click on their name on my Broker Friends List I can reply, however I think it used their character name. Anyone else haveing this issue?

Yes, I'm having the issue, I also know that there is currently at 3.3.6 and a 3.3.7 version, but for some reason my client won't update, it doesn't start an update process to go to the next patch, and server maintenance was just recently, so I dunno what that's about. So I'm stuck with 3.3.5 for now, and it always pops up 2 windows saying the same thing yours says. It's literally un-usable right now the way it is, so I have to disable it. I can't find 3.3.5 version now, after I tried updating it... so I dunno what to do at all now.

Here is a direct link to 3.3.7, which should fix your issue. If you're ever having trouble updating WIM through an addon management tool, just download and install it manually from the front page.

I am using WIM 3.3.7. Just FYI. This bug has existed for a long time. Ever since patch 3.3.5. Now with 4.0.1 coming out who know how it will act.

RealID friends no longer have their name in the top of the WIM window. Just a string of letters and numbers, like "f3gh00000000000". Not kidding on the length of the string of 0s.

WIM also interferes with the new glyphing panel. I could not glyph my rogue without disabling WIM. Every time I tried to place a glyph, it would throw an error saying that WIM was doing something that only the Blizzard UI could do.

Those two bugs make it very annoying to use WIM, and I depend on WIM as a GL. I've got anywhere from 3 to 15 whispers going at any given moment in time, WIM allows me to keep track of individual conversations and arrange them on my screen so I don't -lose- anything. Here's a full listing of the bugs I know about personally.

- Can't link achievements in the WIM window. Patch 3.3.5 error.
- Linking items/spells/professions using WIM causes a double link. Patch 3.3.5 error.
- Interferes somehow with the Blizzard glyph UI (not sure how, I can't find the actual lua error). Patch 4.0 error
- No longer displays a RealID friend's name. Patch 4.0 error.
- Replying to a RealID friend will sometimes throw a "No player named <X> is currently playing" error. Patch 3.3.5 error.
- Ignore button on the WIM window doesn't work. You have to manually /ignore someone. Patch 3.3.5 error.
- profile links button that generally shows just where your friend is now shows the summaries of the spec trees for non-RealID characters on the bottom line if they also use WIM, which causes the tooltip to cover the whole screen.

Also: With the chat throttling in place in all chat channels now, using WIM for /g or a custom chat channel (this is a slap in the face to RPers) will run afoul of the chat throttling. I'm using the latest version of WIM, as I come -here- to check and see if it's been updated.

i had no trouble with glyphing. other stuff will be fixed soon. you should have made a new thread instead of bumping a 3.3.5 issues thread. tehse aren't 3.3.5 issues they are 4.0.1 issues.

Considering that I don't play the game anymore (over a year now) and that I pay for my subscription just so i can fix WIM when it breaks, I think... nevermind....

First, what I have fixed since 4.0 and will be releasing tomorrow:

1. Sound files converted to ogg, Blizzard no longer plays MP3 & wav files.
2. Fixed issues with BNet. Blizzard no longer sends names through the UI. They now use a special hyperlink which the client converts to the actual name when it is shown on the UI. |K[gsf]%d+|k[0]+|k. (Thank you Stewart for discovering and documenting this.)This fixes the issue with the title bar and also any problems people might have had saving history from users with all lower case names.
3. W2W tooltip. Blizzard changed the arguments returned when retreiving talen information. Expected since the talent UI is completely revamped. This has been corrected.
4. Replying to RealID friend..."no player named <x>..." this was an issue with name formatting, which isn't an issue anymore.


Other Issues mentioned below which ran with WIM alone, I can not reproduce. Meaning, you have an addon conflict somewhere.
1. Linking achievements.
2. New Glyph UI. I added a glyph without a problem.


Known Issues, not yet fixed because of lack of time and not sever.
1. Ignoring players from the shortcut. Haven't had the time to check this. If I have time, i might look into this before release.

As far as chat throttling. This isn't new. Blizzard throttles. But instead of letting blizzard DC you, ChatThrottleLib is used to monitor and delay messages on a priority basis. If you are lagging severely when sending your messages, this means that you have a number of addons loaded transmitting data in the background. Either  disable them, or disable WIM. WIM isn't the only addon using ChatThrottleLib, so it might still be running another instance elsewhere.
