From WIM
Welcome to WIMAddon.com - The official home of WIM (WoW Instant Messenger)
WIM is a World of Warcraft addon which helps you to manage your whispers by making them into a classic instant messenger interface such as AIM, Yahoo and MSN.
With game play in mind, WIM has a large array of options where you can customize how WIM interacts during different situations, such as while you are in combat or in town talking to friends or selling your crafts. The WIM community and their suggestions are responsible for a large variety features that exist inside of WIM. With this in mind, the creation of this website seemed to be a viable solution to help keep the community growing.

This is an update to correct the errors introduced in the World of Warcraft 2.4.2 update released today.
Also, an adjustment has been made to make WIM friendly with MBB (Minimap Button Bag). -Pazza April 21, 2008, 09:47:54 PM by Pazza
This updated version of WIM addresses various bugs/issues that have been reported since the last update. Locales that have female class names are now handled correctly, and currently have the latest localization for German thanks to the various contributors.
Also in this update, interaction with the general chat frame has now been modified. WIM no longer hooks into the default chat frame which now makes WIM both easier to hook into as well as avoids any confusion with other addons also hooking the chat frame. For example, most spam blockers. WIM also honors WoW 2.4's message event filters. If another addon is filtering whispers (both inbound and out), messages will also be filtered in WIM as well. Suppression of whispers are now handled by these filters as well. The above changes required some code rewriting so it also allowed me to better optimize the effected functions. Pattern's used in the detection of emoticons have been updated. The old pattern sometimes broke player links which contained characters other than A to Z. This new pattern has resolved this issue. Two new features include: - A new key binding: Focus selected tab. - An option to allow item links to have their tooltips shown when hovering over them with your mouse. This applies to WIM windows only and was designed to accompany other addons which provide this feature. Hovering links is disabled by default. You may turn it on from WIM's option window (/wim) and scrolling down on the General tab. For more details on the update, refer to the change log. Because of some file changes (updated libraries), the game must be restart upon updating your version of WIM. Sincerely, Pazza April 01, 2008, 06:07:03 AM by Pazza

WIM 2.4.9 is now available for download. This version comes with the ability to view emoticons in your WIM conversations. I have preloaded 50 emotion-icons into WIM. Skin developers also have the ability to add more as well as replace WIM's preloaded icon/emotion definitions. The skin section of the site still isn't finished, nor is the documentation for skinning. There have been a couple developers however who have taken the initiative and figured it out for themselves. Be sure to check out the Skinning Discussion found on this site's forums.
As usual, read the change logs for more details, post comments, questions and concerns on the forums. *** Below was April 1, 2008's April Fools Joke - Do not take seriously *** A brief change of subject, a side project of mine has been working with the Apple iPhone. Some of you might have heard about the SDK (Software Developer's Kit) which was released not so long ago. This extremely large download (~2 gigs) has brought new possibilities to the iPhone. I can't explain how much sleep has been lost trying to get this to work, however I have been able to port a version of World of Warcraft to the iPhone. As most of you know, the iPhone runs on a BSD type kernel and therefore can be tweaked to support Wine. Wine is used to run windows based apps on linux machines. Many are currently, and successfully playing WoW on linux computers. Anyway, below is a screenshot of WoW running on my iPhone. Because of the size of the device, it does make gameplay a little difficult. With a frame rate of 8fps and AT&T's extremely slow network, raiding doesn't seem feasible. The good news however? WIM works flawlessly! Once I work out all of the kinks, I will release a beta on the site. till then, here's the screenie. ![]() March 11, 2008, 10:33:57 AM by Pazza
An update of WIM has been posted. This new version has something new and some compatibility fixes.
I'll start by addressing people's concerns for Auctioneer and AucAdvanced's AskPrice modules and their compatibility with WIM. WIM will not respect the two addons options of whether or not to display outgoing responses. I know some have had difficulties with coming up with working filters for AskPrice but have been unsuccessful. Filters are no longer required and is now built into WIM itself. If this issue affects you, and you would like immediate results, you will have to restart your game prior to seeing the changes take effect. Otherwise, you may ignore this and update as usual with a simple ReloadUI() or relog. The second part of this update introduces a new WIM-2-WIM (W2W) feature. W2W has already been sharing coordinates between users, so why not take that a step further? Using WIM and W2W you may now track the user you are talking to on your minimaps without having them in your party or raid. To track a W2W user, click the "WIM" icon next to their class icons and select, "Track user...". This will immediately place an icon on your minimap. There are however conditions where the user will not be able to be tracked. And those are as follows: 1. The user must be on the same continent as you. For example: Both of you must be on Kalimdor/EK/Outlands. 2. The user can not be tracked if inside of an instance which does not support coordinates. Closing the conversation will turn off the tracking automatically. If you wish to manually turn off the tracking of a user, simply repeat the steps taken to enable it. Before I start receiving reports on this, I want to state now, that as of this version, tracking will only display on the minimap. Support for the world map is not supported yet. So stay tuned for that in a future update. Before I close, I want to add one more thing. One of WIM's beta testers Stewart has developed two new skins for WIM, both of which are fantastic imo. Check them out at http://www.wimaddon.com/forums/index.php/topic,335.0.html. Until the skin section is finished on this website, all skins will be posted in the Skin Discussion forum. If you have any questions, as usual, feel free to post them on the forums in the appropriate boards. -Pazza |
